But that was 30 years ago. Surely he could understand that things have changed in 30 years?

Lucky me that i live in a country (Romania) where most of the medical students don't have to pay for their studies. Even so, Romania is one of the worst countries judged by the number of doctors / 1000 people with an average of 1.9 doctors / 1000 people... and do you know why? I'll let you guess :)
Later edit: Romania has about 23.000.000 people, 47.000 doctors including 7500 residents. Each year the number of medical students who finish the 6 years of faculty is about 4000-4500.

This is similar to the article with global worming influencing the rates of kidney stone patients :)
Imagine the people living in cold countries, let's say Finland, after moving in a hotter country, let's say Italy, do they get this kind of medical problems? I bet they don't and the temperature change is even larger than the global worming...

Seems to make sense that especially unexplained thromboembolisms could be due to underlying malignancy.

It doesn't seem really smart to blog about an open case no matter what alias you use.

Anyone ever heard of ventilator associated pneumonia? One of the ways to fight it... aggressive mouth care.

I don't know how to go back and correct it. Darn, there's no Speller check for labels.

One important thing to remember is that despite risk factors we need to think of the individual and their cancer type. For example, lung cancer remains greatly underfunded, partly because a lot of people associate it with smoking and blame the patients. Regardless, others get the disease and have never smoked but they are held at a disadvantage. We simply need to unite and make all cancers a national priority.

I am surprised he not in Miami as Miami is the mecca of garage cosmetic surgeons. I am sure he will whow up there after his sentence.

Wow, this case is fascinating! I'd not heard of Dr Lindeman or Flea before, and this blog post outlines the issue really well. It seems the cardinal rule of blogging if you're a doctor is not to say anything you wouldn't essentially be happy saying to a patient.
I've noticed lots of articles about doctors blogging and was going to write a post myself, but Sam Solomon has done much better job than I could so I think I'll just link to his post instead!

excellent letter everything you stated is true. They need to decide on a firm course of action to ensure everyone is able to afford and have access to health care.

Last year I read an article about bionic eye contact lens, but I could only see the idea of synapse between nerves and wires in a movie...

Elbow showing doesn't really matter to me. Isn't the reason urologists wear bow ties is so that their tie doesn't dip into the urine samples?

Reminds me of how to keep your sanity at work. Idea, shop where you boss does and wear the same outfit the day after your boss does. It's a little awkward if your boss is of the opposite sex.

It is not right at all but when you see, a "Bad M.F.er" tattoo on a 90 year old's wrinkled bicep it does make you chuckle inside a little bit.

I thought there was already a bionic woman? Wasn't she a former soldier?
I'm going to have to google it.

That's just great. I was hoping that the companies were encouraging their employees to travel to regional centers in order to obtain the best care. This is similar to a recent article showing that breast cancer patients have better outcomes in academic medical centers than their local community hospital. Bu No, it's about traveling hours away from your family and support to save a few bucks on a knee replacement. Too bad.

Several studies out of Japan have shown that children act as a reservoir in the spread of the flu. Children seem to spike with the flu early in the season and then spread it to their older adults. Vaccinating the kids seems to make sense.
